Crisis strikes at work. Are you prepared?

Have a plan and be prepared in the event of a critical incident.

Is your organization ready to handle a crisis or violent episode? Would your employees know what to do or how to spot the warning signs?

Every year, 2 million American workers report having been victims of workplace violence. In 2017, 807 people were fatally injured in work-related attacks, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s about 15 percent of the 5,147 workplace deaths that year.

While it is impossible to prevent all tragedies, it is always possible to be prepared and to have a plan in place if a crisis occurs. Having a plan can help mitigate the impact a violent event or tragedy can have on your business and, more importantly, on your people.

After a recently-terminated employee came back to the workplace and fatally shot one person and injured two others, Ulliance experts helped to stabilize the crisis. Ulliance provided a specialized crisis management team, in-person grief counseling, and on-site debriefings.

Debriefing is a critical process that allows employees to come together as a group after a violent occurrence; they meet with a trained, third-party provider to discuss their reactions to the incident. You can learn more about debriefing and how to spot the warning signs of workplace violence in the Smart Manager Webinar Series.

The results-focused Employee Assistance Plan is designed to provide comprehensive crisis management services and HR professional support, including fast response to sudden crises and 24-hour expert intervention.
